K-W Arts Awards

On June 6th, at the Centre in the Square, twelve categories of achievements were awarded from public nominations of both amateur and professional artists. The categories included; Literary, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Music, Mentor, Open & Leading Edge. Award Winners receive the prestigious Denney statuette created exclusively for the Kitchener-Waterloo Arts Awards by local artist Alan Denney and a silver Denney pin created by Knar Jewellery. Leading Edge Award Winners receive a framed certificate and a cash honorarium. The nominees were assessed by artist excellence, sustained development over a minimum of 3 years in the Waterloo Region, impact on the community and no conflict of interest. The Arts Awards Process culminates in the Awards Ceremony, an exciting evening of entertainment and the announcement of Arts Award Winners.
