Girls Night In
Emily Dosman is a third year nursing student from Kitchener. She took it upon herself to host a GIRLS NIGHT IN for breast Cancer. It was on Friday Jan 8th, at the KW Granite Club. Over 120 women and a handful of men attended this sell out dinner in support of Breast Cancer Research. This event, which grew in a few short weeks from a planned dinner at Emily's home for a handful of friends to a sell out at the Curling Club raised $2,000.She took the Cancer Society's concept, and executed it on a much bigger scale! Emily feels it is important for people her age (21) to begin thinking about their future and how to help the community they are so lovingly surrounded by. Cynthia Davis, a lawyer with Sorbara Schumacher and McCann, spoke of her journey through law school while fighting breast cancer. Gwen Craig, also spoke of her struggles with breast cancer, her surgeries, the support she got from family and friends and her successes following her battle. Emily was very grateful as well to the businesses and individuals who donated door prizes and raffle items. The guests enjoyed choosing which raffle items they wanted to win and raised more funds for the fight. Colleen Cooper, kept the evening moving along as MC for this successful fundraiser. Photos of the evening were shot by Vitina Blumenthal
