Olympic Torch Relay
On Sunday, December 27th the relay made its way through our fine cities en route to the Winter Games in Vancouver B.C. Festivities were held in both the Waterloo Public Square as well as Downtown Kitchener City Hall. This was an opportunity for the community to come and be a part an incredible celebration and witness a once–in-a-lifetime event. Sponsored by Coca-Cola and RBC, the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay was a 45,000-kilometre journey across Canada aimed to unify the country and build excitement for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The torch visited about 1,000 communities. Kitchener & Waterloo’s commemorations included free hot chocolate, live entertainment, children’s activities, skating and more.
