Maxwell's Music House Songwriters Competition
Throughout July & August, Maxwell's Music House held a Songwriters Competition. This is different from a battle of the bands. The first and second rounds were to be solo performances only. The goal was to look for serious songwriters. The competition was not judged on how well they could play an instrument, but how well they can write a song. A truly vulnerable position to be in! On August 16th, the four finalists were able to bring a band to accompany them. Prizes included $1000 cash, Mill Street Brew Pub gifts, DNA screening custom t-shirts, features in Nightlife, Echo, IRIS radio show, IndieSolo homepage feature, a gig at the Waterloo Public Square, a Laurie Wonfor Nolan portrait of their set and more. The finalists were Chris Miller, Mandippal , Todd Donald & Zubin Thakkar. The overall winner ended up being....
